Fortress, Romanesque abbey then Gothic cathedral, Maillezais has for centuries shone a light on religious, economic and artistic endeavours. Overlooking the canals of the Marais Poitevin, its majestic remains emerge in an original reconstruction that takes you to the heart of a thousand years of history.

Maillezais Abbey comprises :

François Rabelais, a cheeky and brilliant monk, is passionate about the Reformation. Faced with the choices between his state and secular life, he intends to build an ideal work.

Coming from the future, the Marsh Sailor, an adventurer admiring the colossal work of monks, tells you the history of this natural environment rich in incomparable biodiversity.
